What Is Mediation?
Return to VideosVideo Transcript:
Mediation is a dispute resolution process that is different than litigation. Mediation is an opportunity to learn more about the positions of the other side in your case, as well as to explore the opportunities to try to resolve the differences in a manner that promotes a speedy and equitable resolution rather than the time and expense associated with litigation. Each party has their lawyer present and they can have any expert witnesses present if they wish, like financial professionals, valuation professionals, appraisers, and it allows the parties to attempt to reach a resolution that they fix and determine for themselves. As opposed to having a judge who knows nothing about you and your family determining the solutions to your problems for you.
